Day in the Life | < Back
Lucy Gordon is English, and lives in England with her husband and
two dogs.
She always wanted to be a writer, and for twelve years worked for a
woman's magazine. In pursuit of copy she camped out with lions in
Africa, traveled with a flying ambulance service and interviewed
some of the world's most interesting men, including Warren Beatty,
Richard Chamberlain, Roger Moore.
Many of these experiences have found their way into her books, but
her biggest influence has been her husband, a tall, dark, handsome
Italian, whom she met on vacation in Venice, Italy. They fell in
love the first evening and got engaged two days later. Everyone
warned her about whirlwind marriages, but years later they are still
married, still in love.
They have lived mainly in England, except for three years in Italy,
when they lived just outside Venice, and explored the rest of the
country. As a result Lucy knows Italy well. Many of her books are
set there, and she adores Italian men whom she celebrates in hero
after hero.
She sold her first book, LEGACY OF FIRE, to Silhouette in 1982.
Since then she has written over 50 romances for Silhouette and
Harlequin. Two of them have won the RITA Award in the Traditional
Category, SONG OF THE LORELEI (1990) and HIS BROTHER'S CHILD
(1998). Two other books have been finalists, A PEARL BEYOND PRICE
(1988) and FOR THE LOVE OF EMMA (1997). She has also been a finalist
in the Regency Category with AN UNROMANTIC LADY (1997) in her other
incarnation of Penelope Stratton.
